Meads bay is one of our favorite beaches on the island. We come here almost every weekend, but today the waves were unusually spectacular. It actually started to rain just as we got there, so we considered turning around and heading back home... the rain stopped within 5 minutes and I am so glad we decided to stay. Despite swallowing quite a bit of sea water, the waves were an absolute blast to play in! I wish they were like that every day.

Rye Meads is always a nice reserve to go to, especially during the week as it tends to be a little quieter although with the Easter holidays that wasn't so much. We will be back more in the next few months to see how things go and with Kestrels also checking out the nest box on the pylon in the car park it could be a very busy time for hunting and a not so much fun time for the voles

The Second Severn Crossing (Welsh: Ail Groesfan Hafren) is the M4 motorway bridge over the River Severn between England and Wales, inaugurated on 5 June 1996 by HRH The Prince of Wales to supplement the traffic capacity of the original Severn Bridge built in 1966. The bridge marks the lower limit of the River Severn and the start of the Severn Estuary. It is further south than the old bridge; as it is closer in line with the landward sides of the M4, it gives a shorter journey when travelling between England and South Wales. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Severn_Crossing Europe: Europe is a continent located entirely in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere. Europe is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. It comprises the westernmost part of Eurasia. Europe is generally considered as separated from Asia by the watershed divides of the Ural and Caucasus Mountains, the Ural River, the Caspian and Black Seas, and the waterways of the Turkish Straits.[5] Yet the non-oceanic boundary between Europe and Asia—a concept dating back to classical antiquity—is arbitrary and amounts to a historical and social construct. The primarily physiographic term "continent" as applied to Europe also incorporates cultural and political elements whose discontinuities are not always reflected by the continent's current overland boundary with Asia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe Canada: Canada (/ˈkænədə/; French: [kanadɑ]) is a country which is located in the northern part of North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles), making it the world's second-largest country by total area, and the fourth-largest country by land area. Canada's southern border with the United States is the world's longest bi-national land border. The majority of the country has a cold or severely cold winter climate, but southern areas are warm in summer. Canada is sparsely populated, the majority of its land territory being dominated by forest and tundra and the Rocky Mountains. It is highly urbanized with 82 percent of the 35.15 million people concentrated in large and medium-sized cities, many near the southern border. Its capital is Ottawa, and its three largest metropolitan areas are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Various indigenous peoples have inhabited what is now Canada for thousands of years prior to European colonization. Beginning in the 16th century, the British and French established colonies, the first being the colony of Canada established by France in 1535. As a consequence of various armed conflicts, British North America gained and lost territory until, by the late 18th century, it controlled most of what comprises Canada today. On July 1, 1867, the colonies of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia were federated to form the semi-autonomous federal Dominion named Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the Dominion to the present ten provinces and three territories forming contemporary Canada. Canada achieved independence gradually beginning with responsible government in the 1830s and culminating with the patriation of the Constitution in 1982. In 1931, Canada achieved near-total independence from the United Kingdom with the Statute of Westminster 1931, except for the power to amend its constitution. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada United States: The United States of America (USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S.) or America (/əˈmɛrɪkə/), is a federal republic[16][17] composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions.[fn 6] Forty-eight states and the federal district are contiguous and located in North America between Canada and Mexico. The state of Alaska is in the northwest corner of North America, bordered by Canada to the east and across the Bering Strait from Russia to the west. The state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific Ocean. The U.S. territories are scattered about the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, stretching across nine official time zones. The extremely diverse geography, climate and wildlife of the United States make it one of the world's 17 megadiverse countries.[19] At 3.8 million square miles (9.8 million km2)[20] and with over 324 million people, the United States is the world's third- or fourth-largest country by total area,[fn 7] and the third-most populous. The capital is Washington, D.C., and the largest city is New York City; twelve other major metropolitan areas—each with at least 4.5 million inhabitants—are Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Riverside. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States

A laser for all weather conditions But new tests done at Eglin Air Force Base by Boeing and the Army revealed that the High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator is still usable in conditions that would normally render lasers unusable. Though the laser had previously been put through its paces in New Mexico, the fact that it managed to handle mortars and UAVs in rainy, windy Florida means Boeing has taken it to the next level. A robotic couch Some hardworking students expended great effort creating the “robocouch”, an invention for the absolute laziest among us. Electric motors drive the wheels, and the entire contraption is controlled with an X-Box gamepad. A new design for football helmets Riddels Speedflex has a new helmet out they hope might make the difference. It looks like a regular helmet, but utilizes materials in a way that will hopefully offer some cushioning. First of all, the helmet has a rubber-padded panel that offers about 6 mm of give when compressed.

Made for Mead Academy Trust's 'A Moment in Time' project, the films were premiered on 13th May 2017 at The Mead School. There were tears and laughs and gasps and all for the right reasons. Each of the schools did an amazing job and told some great stories. Music Credits (not all music features in all films).

Wild January waves on Meads Bay 11-Jan-2017. Lasted for 5 days like this. I've never seen it in eight years of going to Anguilla. Checked the Four Seasons Meads Bay cam yesterday and it's back to very calm.

This video is property of Train_PlaneHub, "RachaelMatt" 2160p 4K HD! Just over an hour of trainspotting at Crewe station during a cold snowy December Afternoon on Tuesday 12th 2017. To be honest not much disruption despite the wintery weather, most services operating with minor delays. Good variety of traction featured in this video. Check out the class 08 doing some shunting around the yard at the back of the station, lots of clag as it moves some of the frozen loco's around. Also featured are 2x Network Rail class 97's seen arriving from Shrewsbury & departing back out towards Derby, still covered in snow & ice. After about 80 minutes of filming I was well & truly done. It was freezing, so called it a day. INCLUDES: Virgin Pendolino's & Voyagers, London North Western 350's, East Midlands Trains 153's, Arriva Trains Wales 175's & 150, Royal Mail 325 and the Network Rail 97's & class 08 shunting. Check out my video from Milton Keynes taken during the months snowfall. Thanks for watching COMMENT, THUMBS UP, FAVOURITE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE!
